SACRAMENTO, Calif. — There is a new boss in California who is getting major buzz for his stance on sentencing reform.

Wasco – The Investigative Services Unit at Wasco State Prison-Reception Center (WSP-RC) and investigators from the Kern County District Attorney’s Office are investigating an inmate homicide that occurred on Facility B within the reception center at WSP-RC.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — The California correctional and courts systems are currently adjusting to a new law of the land related to inmates with multiple felony convictions. Voters in the Golden State changed sentencing laws in the November election when they approved Proposition 36, modifying the state’s three strikes law. The sentencing rule falls under the category of “habitual offender laws,” some form of which can be found in 24 states at the moment.
